Reporting current year courses- several courses under one big name

On our usual quarterly report card, we have three or four distinct courses under one department umbrella course with the weighted average of the 3-4 courses. On our transcript, they just included the umbrella name.

Ex.
Mathematics 98
Technology and Livelihood Education 97
- Food Service Management 94
-Accounting 98
-Computer Education 98

When I report my courses, should I include the distinct courses or the umbrella course? I want to report the distinct ones because I feel that just putting TLE would not enumerate the different courses I actually took.

bump

Hmm. I think I would do as you suggest. Colleges may want to see what you actually took for classes, and if your official HS transcript does NOT name the classes, it may be helpful for your self-reported list to do so.

Also… I do hope you’re taking the advice in your other thread and applying to some of “match” colleges we suggested for you! Again, you do not need to be applying only to need-blind schools, even with great need. My D had great need and was accepted with good FA at several need-aware schools. Please consider this. I would hate for you to have zero options in April. Good luck!

@staceyneil‌ Aww, I was about to report everything but then the Common App has a limit of 10 courses, and I can’t fit all 14 there. Would I do well by just mentioning it in the Additional Information section?

Maybe you could write something like the following on one line (unless there is a character limit)… not sure I have the correct courses and years taken listed under the umbrella but hopefully you get the idea:

Technology & Livelihood Education (Food Service Mgmt 10; Accounting 11; Computer Ed. 12)

@staceyneil I’m taking those courses all at once in senior year actually, but thank you! It worked!
