Reporting self-studied AP's on applications?

How does one report self-studied AP's on the Common Application or other college applications with similar format?

After searching through several threads, I have the following possible answers:

List it as an AP (under the AP's taken/to be taken section) and they'll figure it out that you've self-studied it since you haven't listed them under your courses

List it as a course, then put "self-study" beside it in brackets.

Simply mention them in the additional info section.

Try to imbed them into some other essay in your application.

I'm particularly curious to how often "#2" is used because I'm not taking that many courses in my senior year (since I took most of them in my Junior year and my school doesn't offer anything else interesting) so #2 would be advantageous.

Any opinions out there?

Anyone??? bump??

This.

And this. You should also tell a teacher of a related subject you’re self-studying for an exam if you’re getting a recommendation from that teacher. For example, if you’re taking US Gov and are self-studying comparative gov, that’ll definitely give that teacher something nice to put in his recommendation.

Those are what I would do. Self-studying an AP isn’t a course since you’re not being graded and therefore have no GPA, tests, or homework to worry about.
