Reporting Test Scores

If you took the SAT's and put down MIT as one of the schools to receive your scores, do you have to report it on the standardized test score portion of the actual application? I did not do as well as I would have liked, and would prefer if MIT did not see my score. I did much better on the ACT and would like them to consider that score instead. By not reporting my SAT score, will they still see them because I had the collegeboard send my scores there?

they will still see them so you should write it down on the actual application so it doesn’t seem like you are trying to prevent them from seeing them.

They will still see the scores regardless, but they will not consider the set of scores that is worse.

Even if you got a 600 on the SAT, and you report that score on the application as you are asked, MIT will consider only your 36 on the ACT, and the SAT score will not affect your admission in any way.

I got a really bad score on the SAT II world lit paper (about 500), and it is attached to the same paper as my Math IIC, and Biology E, so MIT will see it. Do you think that will hurt me?

No.

MIT only considers the best math SAT II score and the best science SAT II score that an applicant submits. If other tests were taken, they are not considered.

it won’t cost you that much extra effort to just type a few numbers in again

thank you mollie! you are very helpful :)

I thought MIT wanted 3 tests. You mean I took Bio for nothing?!?!?!?

It’s been several years since MIT required three SAT IIs.

Oh well I guess I was just following the norm. Maybe it’ll be useful elsewhere.
