Reputation in America

My mom heard from one of her church members apparently that a McGill degree is harder to market in America and that its reputation is not that strong. What do you guys say?

This church member is misinformed.

Misinformed church members are a plague to society.

Lolololololololol

unless the chruch memeber is some recruiter or someone..who knows about this...

the chruch member is totally wrong...

McGill has a great reputation with people who matter.

i concur with UCLAri. the ppl who don't know about mcgill are usually the ones without a higher education and really not that informed about what's going on in the world in general.

Again, one of my professors went to McGill as an undergrad, and apparently had no great difficulties in getting into Columbia for his PhD. McGill is an awesome school.

Don't let anyone cloud your impressions regarding McGill's reputation around the world. Silly college surveys and anecdotal evidence. You have to ask what the 4 year grad rate is, the percentage that go on to grad school, etc etc, and I think that McGill compares favorably with just about any institution anywhere.

Of late, many perceptions about schools in any other country have been because of American insecurities in the global community--thus if it is not American is it not the best or the most righteous; thus a differing viewpoint is subject to being trashed. Right or wrong that seems to be the case right now.

McGill's graduates are accepted to grad schools and to jobs all over the world-- instant and in many cases profound respect in most if not all European, subcontinent and Asian universities and businesses. I can speak only for the sciences--there will be little resistance to a portfoliio of quality McGill credentials for advanced studies or a career with just about any institution or company globally or in the US. I would expect the same for the Arts programs or Music faculties as well. They know McGill is tough and selective and to prosper there means you can prosper in real life as well!

Plus, you are an intersting person having lived in Montreal, and will be able to get along with just about anyone anywhere in the world. Seems to me that is the point of a college education anyway!
