Reputation of St. Rose vs Oneonta

Hi everyone!! I am in the process of making my final decision as to where I am going to college. I am trying to decide between The College Of Saint Rose and SUNY Oneonta. Money is not an issue at either school. I am a childhood\elementary education major. I am wondering which college has the better reputation. Thanks!!

Just looking for insight as to which college has the better reputation. Thanks in advance!!

You asked this question in December. I thought the responses were helpful. You’d have to pay $10k/year more for St. Rose. Can your parents pay that?

@austinmshauri As I wrote in the original post, money is not an issue. I was just curious as to which college had the better reputation and is the best for elementary education. Thanks!

The [College of Saint Rose](AAUP report condemns College of Saint Rose for cutting more than 20 tenure-line faculty positions with insufficient faculty input) seems to be having some financial issues. I think I’d avoid them.

The SUNY schools are excellent for those wanting to go into education. I would stick with Oneonta.

SUNY Oneonta has the better reputation, and as mentioned is a better choice for teachers.

.

I would think The College of Saint Rose would have the better location, student teaching opportunities, and other activities available in the City of Albany. Besides, aren’t private colleges generally seen as superior to public ones??

Private colleges are not automatically superior to public colleges – as with everything it comes down the the two schools. The consensus here is that SUNY Oneonta is the better choice, but if you prefer attributes of The College of St. Rose and it is affordable then you are certainly free to make any choice that works best for you.

Opt for the state-supported Oneonta. The College of St. Rose is facing financial upheaval, and its faculty are upset over their treatment by the administration. These negatives do not portend well for a good undergraduate experience.

Oneonta is better for elementary education.
