I got a letter from Pitt today that they would like me to send my first semester senior year grades. I'm quite happy about that because I have a 4.0 so far in my senior year for the first marking period. I plan to send these grades, but the letter says that they will not make a decision based on these.

My question is, has anyone else ever received a request for senior year grades, and got accepted based on what they got first marking period?

I just sent in my first marking period grades where I have an 86 in AP Calc AB, a 77 in AP Physics C (I had never taken any physics before like you are supposed to, so I am not entirely mad at this), and a 90 in my Penn State Abington Into to Engineering college level course. I am waiting to hear back right now…

This marking period has been one of my best ever, if not the best. I received a 93 in AP Calc, 93 in AP Psych, 99 in Physics, basically its the best I’ve ever done.

I have a 3.03 UW, don’t know weighted. Top 30% of my class. I have taken AP Computer Science, APUSH, and I am now taking AP Physics and AP Calc. I have taken 12 honors classes throughout my high school. One summer I took a class at Northeastern in engineering for college credits, and now I take a college credit course at PSU: Abington. I am a 4 year varsity tennis player and a senior captain. I have plenty of charity and ECs, and my essay was a very good essay about how playing with Legos as a young kid led me to wanting to become an engineer.

I also received a letter requesting midyear grades the 15th. I have a 3.42 GPA im not sure if its weighted and 1250 math and reading SAT score. I applied to the engineering school and it sounds like the majority of those that posted on here have also applied to the engineering school. I am also having my best term this grading period with a 3.94 and a 85 in ap calc and a 91 in ap physics. I see a pattern for who they sent these letters too. My sister is a pitt honors college graduate so im not sure if that helped me at all. Im just glad they didnt give me a straight decline and hopefully my grades this semester will help me out.

I received one of these too, as did a few other people I know from school. I’m the only one out of them who applied to the engineering program though. My UW GPA is a 3.1 and reading + math SAT was a 1270.

I’ve received one of these as well.
I applied for Bio.
3.48ish weighted GPA
M+R 1340.
Kinda disappointed. I was hoping to hear back from Pitt early, since it was the only Rolling Admissions school I was applying to. Instead I had to play it safe, and applied to Drexel and Penn State (ewww) to hopefully get an acceptance somewhere before all my other schools released decisions in March. Accepted to Drexel, so I’m okay. Still hoping for Pitt tho. :)

I got this letter as well in the beginning of December… I was going to wait until semester grades came out (last week of Jan) but i had all A’s first mark and it seems my second mark will include 2-4 B’s. Should I send my first quarter grades and see what comes of it or should I just wait a few weeks and send my semester grades as they requested?

Got the letter requesting midyear grades a few days… I’m wondering if everyone who isn’t accepted is asked for their midyear grades?? Does anyone get flat-out rejected?? Anyways, I’m applying with a 3.1-ish GPA and a 1420 (CR+M) SAT. Good luck everyone :)

SEND YOUR FIRT QUARTER GRADES. I got a request back in November for my semester grades. I sent them my first quarter grades anyway and got accepted December 23rd based on those. @xdance- I also have a 3.1 with an ACT of 27 so I definatly think you have a shot

I called the admissions office and they told me that at this point they will only be looking at the mid year grades not the first quarter marking period

Any news for anyone yet? My school had several cancellations during mid-terms because of the snow storm so my grades have yet to go out!!! Best of luck to everyone

I got my acceptance letter on saturday. i wasn’t expecting it since mid year grades hadn’t gone out yet at my school. i guess they decided my 1st marking period grades were enough, or something…

Congrats all4game! I finally got a chance to speak with my guidance counselor and she said my grades wont be sent out until the second week of February so the waiting continues

I know!!! It is the only time i have ever prayed for my school to not have a cancellation. When i called about my first quarter grades however they assured me that there are countless others in my same situation and it will not hinder our chances at all. PHEW
