Request: SAT Critical Reading

12 days left and counting. January 23rd I take the last SAT of the old format. My math and writing scores are great but my reading score is 650 (plus or minus 10 points). It’s not the sentence completions that trip me up (17/19); the two I got wrong were H-level. It’s the passage based questions that really get my score down. Context: 4 M-level questions wrong and 3 H-level questions wrong for the passage based. So that’s a 41/48. 41 correct - 7 incorrect. I need to know what to do? I am willing to spend the living shit out of these next two weeks to improve my scores in this section. Any prep books? Online resources? Advice? Anything?? I just need to get this score up.

Far faster and easier to lock down vocab and get those 20-30 points than to learn to be a better reader, imo. 17/19 sentcoms isn’t really great.

Yeah I guess - you vocab has really helped. I really want to improve on the passage based question though.
Is The Critical Reader by Erica Meltzer good?

Yes, it’s excellent.

Will it help me with passage-based reading questions?

Do you have trouble getting through the passages in the time given, or do you just have trouble understanding the passages?

Trouble understanding them.

Yep!

It will be hard to get the full benefit of the critical reader in 12 days. It’s a very dense book. Find a few sections where you need the most help and focus on those.
