Request teacher for a lower GPA silly or smart? (read details)

I'm a computer science student and I got a C on one of my Programming classes. I admit I wasn't doing my best and deserve the grade.

However, considering that I am a Computer Science student and got a C on one of my programming classes it looks bad on my transcript. My school (Borough of Manhattan Community College CUNY) allows a student to retake a class if you get a C- or less and the newer grade would replace the older grade when weighing it on the GPA (the older grade will still be there, it will just not count towards your GPA).

In my other programming classes I got 2 B's and 1 A.

Would it be a silly request to ask my professor to do me the favor of lowering the grade so I can retake the course, or do you think college counselors would look past that C or still consider it if I get an A on the second attempt (because it will still remain in the transcript)?

My GPA is now a 3.2 after the C (lowered it by .1)

Thanks.

Ask for a lower grade*** sorry for the typo
