I received a letter from the admissions office that asked me for the mid-year grades when they become available. Does anyone know what I can do, aside from getting good grades, this semester? What should I do to give myself the best chance of admission? I also I would like to know if anyone has experienced this and have gotten accepted in the past.
Since your app might be on the edge, so to speak, make sure you have demonstrated interest. They still have open houses and stuff going on. If you haven’t shown any interest, do it now!
Sharply concentrated on your (improved) GPA (and ACT/SAT)
@TS0104 I attended one of the blue and gold days in July. Going to one of the open houses now may not be possible since I live in Cali. If my parents do decide to let me visit again, then I would have to go during a school week.
If you can visit again, I would. Some high schools excuse your absence if you can prove (by signatures) you actually visited a college. Check and see!
Another suggestion is to contact your area rep. They may be doing a visit in your area but if not building a relationship with your area rep can also be helpful. They may also be able to give you insight on things the admissions staff could be looking for. Good luck!
@WaitingPitt I have been in contact with the California representative since about July when I last visited Pitt. I also contacted her about the letter I got.
It sounds like you are definitely showing interest then. You might just have to wait it out! Good luck!
@TS0104 Would you recommend that take the SAT/ACT again? Will Pitt use my new score if I get a higher score even if I didn’t mention in my app that I was going to take it again?
Hm I don’t know. What’s the next test you could get into, and when are results out? Do you have the time and inclination to work on more test prep? I’m sure if you took it and had the scores sent, they would look at them and take them into consideration. You just don’t know what their timing is.
@TS0104 The next SAT that I can take is in November, i should have enough time to prepare for it. And just in case, if I am still not happy with my score, I can take the December SAT and send the score before mid-January
