has any of the waitlisted class of 2016 gotten a reply after email requesting to remain on the waitlist? i haven’t gotten anything and it’s very worrying. also don’t want to be annoying and email again.

any advice from current students? thank you

no reply since I submitted another rec and love letter. sigh.

Don’t worry about no reply, this is common. There is a sort-of unwritten agreement that says, “If we have a slot for you, we will let you know”. Admissions committees are really busy working to secure the spots for next year and will get to the wait-list when they know how many spots are open.

Having said that, if you are really passionate about getting in, you should continue to bolster your application. Perhaps you missed highlighting one of your great qualities, or won some award since application time. You need to stand out among what may be few hundred other applicants who are on the wait-list competing for a precious few number of spots.

My D was waitlisted at another small LAC a couple of years ago. I later saw something from the Dean of Admissions at that school which (paraphrased) read, “We wait-list a few hundred very well qualified people that could succeed in our school, however, they just didn’t stand out in the same way as those we admitted”. Find the way to stand out and hope that the # of commitments is low.
