I'm about to start on the common app, and I know that it asks for type of payment. I'm going to request fee waivers from all the colleges I apply to. But on their website, they don't really say how I should go about requesting them. Do I have to send them an actual letter or email is fine? And what exactly should I say? I mean, should I include the annual income to prove that I can't afford to pay the application fee?

As an international student, you are not eligible for a college board fee waiver.

Your best bet would be to send an e-mail to the admissions office. Keep in mind that the majority of colleges in the US are not need blind to international students. This means that your ability to pay will be a factor in the admissions process. Your requesting a fee waiver screams “I do not have any money”, wich may come back and bite you as far as gaining admissions.

I know, I meant fee waiver for the application processing, I can pay the score reports and CSS Profile.
I will try email them tho, unless anyone else has gone through this process and can say for sure what worked for them

I know that you meant, and I still stand by what I wrote. Your requesting a fee waiver from schools, that will be base whether or not to admit you based on your ability to pay is a two-edged sword. I would recommend that you search the threads as there are a number of schools, that waive their fee waivers, if you file on line or have a free application.

I know that Colby and Mt. Holyoke for example waive it if you apply online, but most other schools ask for a waiver. Yeah, I know it’s a two way thing, but I might as well try, you never know how I have this incredibly massive amount of luck that’s been piling up for 18 years haha

Sometimes colleges will make it free to apply online while the paper mail-in application has a fee. If this is the case, don’t even mention a fee waiver, just apply online.

Some schools have a period of time when applying is free. It might be a period of a few weeks, so just turn in your application during this time. This is sometimes called Priority Application or something like that.

Look into options like this before the fee waiver since it is just easier that way. Good luck!
