Almost every college’s website says that one can request information. Do the colleges provide extra information that is not included in the college’s website? If yes, what is that information and how would it help someone in the college application process? TIA
Usually that gets you in their email and snail mail list. You might hear about admissions events in your area, get mailings that profile successful & interesting students, etc. My kids signed up for all the schools they were interested in; if nothing else, the materials received were one more data point to consider as they evaluated schools. If the Common Data Set for the college (Google it) says applicant interest is important, it is a small way to show interest.
Some students and parents prefer to have a paper viewbook to look at in contemplating a school.
It demonstrates interest. If the school cares about that (check the Common Data Set) then this is an easy way to do it.
You will likely get mailings with pamphlets/information that may or may not be on the website – either smail mail or email depending on the school. There is no harm in doing this for schools you are interested in.
