What do those of you "in the know" have to say about what to expect if you request a reconsideration of a "no merit aid" decision? What's the best strategy for getting the college to reconsider? Also, what do you think about requesting more aid at an accepted students day? I'm looking for strategies.
Thanks.

It really depends on the schools. Some are willing to look at offers from "peer institutions" (and they have specific colleges they will consider) and others will not budge.
Basically I think my d got the most merit aid where she had the highest stats compared to the others but also was "wanted" the most. And that is hard to quantify. We all hope the college wants our kid the most but when they are admitting hundreds that is not always the case.
Some accepted students days already have finaid meetings scheduled in, if not make an appointment with the finaid department, bring whatever other offers you have and ask if they will consider re-evaluating your package. Can't hurt to ask.
