Required classes to enroll in SFSU as a transfer student?

I have applied to SFSU as a transfer student last October, but I did not finish all of required classes yet.

So I am now registering for classes at my collegE, but I did not know what I will take, because I cannot be sure what kind of classes SFSU requires.

Complete 30 semester units (45 quarter units) of general education, including four basic skills courses:

  1. One course in oral communication
  2. One course in written composition
  3. One course in critical thinking
  4. One course in mathematics or quantitative reasoning, with intermediate algebra as a prerequisite
The four basic skills courses and minimum of 60 transferable semester units (90 quarter units) must be completed by the spring semester prior to fall admission, or by the fall semester prior to spring admission. Earn a “C” or better grade in each basic skills course.

This page shows required classes for SFSU transfer…but they did not mention what kind of classes can be included.

I am sure that 1(oral commun.) and 2(written…) should be English classes, but should ‘critical thinking’ also be an English class? My school advisor assumed that Calculus class might be included too…but I cannot be sure.

I asked this to SFSU admission office by e-mail as well, but they did not respond, and I usually do not have free time when they can get call…

idk which college are you attending but you need to look at your college’s General Education paper …known as the IGETC. It will show you which classes pass as oral communication, written, critical thinking and mathematics, quantitative reasoning. You only need one course from each of 1, 2,3,4.

for 1, at my college i can take comunication 1a, 45 or 44 and it will satisfy that category. (i took comm 45)
for 2, I can take english 1a. it’s my only option so i have to take english 1a. (i took eng 1a)
for 3, I can take English 5 or Philosophy 10 at my college to satisfy that. (i took English 5)
for 4, any math classes that you took higher than intermediate algebra will satisfy this. If you have taken pre calculus, calculus or higher you will satisfy this with no problem because you only need 1 math to satisfy.

Thank you for the answer.
