My friend asked me an interesting question today about Vassar. He noticed that according to the princeton review, Vassar requires 4 years of high school science classes. However, he has only taken 3 years due to scheduling issues. While he has taken AP classes (for the most part), he is wondering if a college committed to providing a very loose core curriculum will honestly reject him purely because of having 3 years of science.

He said he emailed them to inform them that scheduling issues prevented him from taking any course junior year, and forced him to take just a normal level science class this year. I told him that the email should be fine, but I don't want to ruin his chances of getting in.

Any Vassar students have any info for me to relate to my friend?

"While we do not prescribe a specific secondary school program, we expect applicants to have elected the most demanding courses available. Therefore, we recommend that students elect four years of English, mathematics, laboratory science, history or social science, and foreign language."

So they don't REQUIRE, they just recommend. And dc89 is a good example of this.
