I was thinking that no one on here as posted about how cool it is that Cornell requires its students to take two semesters (not sure if that is the right number) of a physical ed type class. Considering how hard I have heard Cornell is that aspect seems awesome to get a required break from some of your other classes. Anyone else think this is cool, and those of you already at Cornell how was your expierence with it?

I think it is really cool, since they offer classes in like EVERYTHING you can do something as a class that you'd probably be doing in your free time anyway--or even just to try something new.

I def think its a good idea w/the big workload...ppl need exercise to get rid of stress!! lol

Yeah....and no one has mentioned the swim test...even though that usually comes up often on these boards...

That swim test was a pain. It's easy if you can swim but I had to take the beginners level class since I couldn't swim. It was annoying. My body isn't conducive to moving through water. I don't float very well for one thing, but mostly it doesn't feel natural for me to be in deep water. It never has. After a semester of training with a champion swimmer I wasn't much better than when I started. The only way I can move decently through water is if I use flippers.

But the rock-climbing class on the indoor wall was fun.

what are the requirements to pass? swim a lap? swim a lap timed?? swim 50 laps?!

hey justin, is the indoor wall rock climbing open to all students like a gym would be, or is it something you would have to pay for or be in the rock-climbing class?

i looked at the course book thingy.. i sooo want to take ballroom dancing. do you have to sign up as a couple to do that though? cuz..

Requirements: Dive + swim 3 laps (one on your belly, one on your back, and one of your choice)

Yes, the wall is open to all members of Cornell during specified hours. But you need to take the course or private lessons to get belay certification. But you climb up the first ten feet without a rope. The course I took was held for three hours per week for six weeks (on Saturdays).

I wish I could have went to the wall more after I finished the course, but I never found the time.

Don't forget the wine tasting class.

Yeahhhh "the most popular class" according to our tour guide. WOOT!

Can you take it more than once?!?!?!?!?

I heard somewhere that that class is the most failed class or something

Wine tasting is the most failed class.

And PE is great, I took 3 of them (1 was just for fun). They included meditation, skiing, and tae kwan do. May take up bowling, coz I hear it increases your score by a lot.

yeah wine tasting is the most failed class b/c of it is very very detailed, lots of little tiny things to know.

i wanna do yoga!!
