If colleges require two or three SAT Subject Test scores, then do they also take into account the extra ones (if you took more than the required number)? Because I took two in 10th grade:
World History: 730
Chemistry (after taking the AP on which I got a 5 :D ) 770

So, if I hopefully get at least a 790 on the Math IIC and Biology SAT Subject Tests, would the World History test totally ruin me? I'm hoping to apply to Columbia University as its my #1 choice (and yes, I know, I still have two years to go b4 college but whatev)

By the way, Columbia University requires only two scores as far as I'm aware.

if you take more than required, then they will use 3 of you highest scores.

thanks. that's what i had thought

However, especially for Ivies, it's not a good idea to have any SAT II under 600. I have heard that if you are on borderline, for example, they will admit a student with no extra SAT IIs instead of a student with SAT IIs below 600.

Wait, so is it better to have extra SAT Subject Tests?

By the end of my junior yaer Id have taken: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, World History, Math IC, and Math IIC

would the fact of taking more of these be helpful in admissions ? (The main reason I'm taking so many is to cover up my biology score, which I screwed up on...630)

If Columbia requires two SAT Subject Tests, not taking a third isn't going to hurt your chances at all, although I'd recommend taking a third test just because they'll look at your highest two. There comes a point where admission officers will focus on other parts of your app.
