that there is a form called the "Required Signatures and Optional Photograph" form. Is this separate from the commonapp and required to be sent in by mail? It's strange, because it is not on the supplements part of the commonapp.

saasaa,
Yes, this is separate from your electronic submission. It seems that they want an actual signature verifying that you've done your own work. If you are applying EDII, they also want your counselor's signature. The photo is optional but helps the admissions people see you as a person rather than just an application. I would recommend sending it by priority mail so you know it has arrived, or include a post-paid self-addressed postcard that the office will return to you when the form is received. If you are submitting an arts, athletic, or science supplement, you may want to send these at the same time.
Good luck with your application.

Luckily I just sent that required signatures form. The only thing I'm really worried about is, I decided to apply to pomona at the last minute. I had initially really loved the school, but I decided not to apply because it didn't have a business program. But then, I realized that I didn't care about business and I really liked Pomona a lot, and that Pomona had a good international relations program as well (which I was also extremely interested in).

Sadly, my counselor was sick the one day I needed to give her the forms to fill out. I left the required counselor forms on her desk, and the other counselor lady said that she would "try" to come in tommorrow (an in-service day for students but not teachers). I was going to check to see that she came in and received the form, but I had work all day from 8-5pm. I called, but she didn't answer. The day after is X-Mas break. So I'm hoping to god that she came back and saw my painfully obvious stamped envelope/forms/thank you note, and will send it out before January 2. Otherwise, I will feel so bummed. If she doesn't receive it until January 7 past the deadline, hopefully she'll send it late anyway, and hopefully Pomona will accept my application... (everything else will be on time) Silly me, doing things at the last minute...

Get all your stuff in on time and they won't mind if the required signatures form is late. They have months and months to look at this stuff and they have your money and your information--I wouldn't worry.

oh i sent the little card that came with the little view book for the big viewbook. I just got the big view book and it came with the supplement forms and im like what the heck.

I'm pretty sure these are only required if you send the application on paper, because the exact same "Required Signature" section is at the bottom of the CommonApp supplement.

Application Form Options
For freshman standing, students apply to Pomona College by using The Common Application (in either electronic or paper formats) and required Pomona College student and counselor supplements.

required Pomona College student and counselor supplements

I think they are referring to the CommonApp supplement when they say "required Pomona College student" supplement. Even if the signature form is required and you don't send it in, I doubt it will be much of a problem... or will it?

I called admissions yesterday, and explained that my daughter's school does not do individual college forms from the counselor. The guidance department puts together this big package that includes student info, info about the school, and an individual recommendation. It makes sense - each counselor has ~400 students, and if each is applying to 5 colleges - you do the math.

Pomona admissions said that was ok, as long as the package the school sent had the info on their form.

However, you should send the Required Pomona College Student supplement. It's no big deal, basic info and a signature. Picture if you want to.
