Requirements for getting into McGill? (American student trying to learn more)

I am extremely interested in McGill University in Montreal, however I do not know anyone who has attended who I could talk to and my college advisor at my school does not know much about the college. I am visiting the school in the fall, but I just wanted to see if anyone on this website could offer some information as to how I stack up compared to other students at the university or applying to the university.

I will be a senior next year.
I have taken challenging courses, several APs and lots of honor classes. My school does not calculate GPA's or give class rank. I get all A's and B's and have done progressively better with each year, however I go to a very hard prep school so the grading is much harsher and this is taken into account at college admissions.
By the end of next year, I will have taken French for seven years and Latin for six years. I am very skilled in English and other languages, but less so in Mathematics and Physical Sciences (my grades are usually in the B range in these subjects).
I have very good SAT scores and have yet to take the ACT but will be in the fall.
As far as extracurricular activities, I've played on varsity sport teams and have been skiing my whole life. I have had several leadership positions in my class (Community Service Representative next year, things like that) and am the president of several clubs including Model U.N. and S.A.D.D. I also have been taking photography for several years and love it.
I love learning about culture and language and I think Montreal would be one of the most amazing places in the world to attend a university at. McGill seems absolutely amazing and like an excellent fit for me, I was just wondering if I have a shot at getting in because I know it's very difficult, and I do not have straight As. Of course, I'm also talking to college advisors about this, I just wanted opinions.

Thank you!

While McGill is very selective, it is not as selective as Ivy League schools. The McGIll website lists the overall averages for enroled first year students to be 3.7/4.0 GPA unweighted and 2060/2400 SAT. Management and Life Sciences are the most selective, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences (Macdonald) is the least selective.

Admission is based on stats only. EC’s and letters of recommendation are examined only for major scholarships, which requires a separate application.

Hope you have a good visit!

Thank you!

When you visit, check in the Admissions Office for the requirements for American students. Back a few years ago, there was actually a binder that detailed the courses and grades required for US students (e.g. Pre-Calc A-). As was mentioned, EC’s don’t matter and recommendations aren’t required - they go by the numbers (which I actually found refreshing rather than the craziness of the US admissions process.) I’m pretty sure there was a 5% quota for US students at that time as well, thus there was a limit to US acceptances regardless of qualifications.
Great school and environment - and you’ll get to use that 7 years of French!
