If you are somehow able to read through my jibberish, I'd appreciate your opinions on my questions on class requirements. Thanks!

1) My school has no lab for it's BIO class? Am I in trouble, or will med schools just accept this (the prof said it will be written in the rec that the school doesnt probide a lab for bio)
2) A lot of med schools I'm looking at want 12 hours in biology. Since I have no lab, Bio is just 4 credits, and it's just a one semester class (typical, or no?). Do I then have to go on to BOTH Cell Biology AND....Anatomy (will they take anatomy as a bio class?).
3) Biochemistry counts only for chemistry, correct? Or does it count potentially as a BIO class?
4) Most med schools I've looked at want one year of the 5 big ones, but there's at least one school that wants 3 classes on 3 of those big 5. I'm essentially forced to do more work, right?
5) I'm a 2nd sem freshman. By my calculations, I still have 4 classes to take for Gen Ed, 3 for Degree, 7 for pre-med, and 11 for my major (Spanish for now, hoping to design my own major later). Thats 35 classes minimum, with no "true" electives (ie I want to take it, doesnt fulfill anything). That's almost six per semester. Will I be hurt if I take non-premeds at a CC over the summer, or take any course by distance ed over the summer?

if your school has absolutely (and this includes upper div labs) NO biology labs, which is REALLY hard to believe, then you could take the labs at another college in the summer.

1) What school do you go to? There has to be more than just one course in the department of biology, and they probably have labs. Most medical schools will likely accept anything with a BIOS course heading (ie BIOS 107 or BIOS 489) assuming that they fit the AMCAS definitions
2) Which schools require more than a year? I went through the 2005-06 MSAR and could only find 8 schools that did so - 3 CA schools, 3 TX schools, Nevada and Iowa. Where are you hoping to apply to?
4)yeah, you're forced to do more work if you want to go to that school.

I'm hoping to do anatomy, which has a lab. I think the only other one (of all things) is Evolution and Diversity of Life (which I'd prefer to avoid) and upper-level courses.

Wouldn't general biology be necessary for MCAT purposes?
