Res College Info?

Son was told the residential college assignments would be released today. He was hoping for an email or something on his esther account, but so far hasn't seen anything.

How does Rice communicate this to the incoming freshmen? email, snail mail, phone call?

IIRC, some come by snail mail, some by email. Good luck!! Your s will love whatever RC he gets. Promise!

You are contacted by your residential college, not Rice. As a result, speed, type of communication etc. varies by college.

When I coordinated we sent personalized letters through snail mail, then a few days later, once most students had received their decisions, set a mass email. Expect an answer within a few days, and enjoy the anticipation in the meantime.

Thanks all. Apparently the college sent him an email at midnight last night. He’s all happy now.

Soooo… which college is it???

son got his assignment last night…Brown

Apparently only Brown, Baker, and McMurtry sent out emails last night. Good thing I didn’t wait up with everyone…

He said McMurtry. Looks like a great location for getting to class on time!

Arrozdad -

Your son will love Brown. Congrats!(from the mom of a Brown alum)

Love the username, BTW :)

Just got an email from Duncan.

I just found out my residential college assignment and now I’m even more excited for O-Week! I do have one, somewhat random question, though: how common is it for people to eat regularly at a servery that isn’t connected to their college? (For instance, if you live in Brown or Jones and decide that you want to frequent the West Servery over the North Servery?)

^^ Common. It all depends on what food you like better (Im a vegetarian, and some Chef’s are better than others) and where your friends are.

Didn’t chef Roger go from the South to the North Servery? Take his class! You’ll love it.

Chef Roger went from South to North at the end of 2006-2007 and from North to West (between Duncan and McM) two years later.
