I’m a girl too. If you want to trade contact me haha.

Alright, thanks. What do you have right now?

Sunset triple, shared bath. You?

Sproul Hall triple. Well, by the way people have been mentioning halls, it makes me feel a little better…but I don’t know. I’ll have to experience it myself.

^ Sproul is awesome - you’ll enjoy it

WHOA you never said you had sproul. sproul is NOT like the other halls. it is much cleaner and very new looking.

Oh really? Well I heard it was just renovated, but my friend said he would still recommend a suite or plaza… basically ANYTHING BUT A HALL. Scared me away. I can’t really picture public showers… is it like camping? Because if it is… well I didn’t have a very good experience with those showers. The clothes I brought got all wet inside the shower stall. You don’t have to insert quarters or anything right? haha.

I think they just renovated it

Edit: haha we posted at the same time.

you cant just wear a towel and walk to your room? nothing should get wet if you bring stuff because you can either put it on the bench right outside the showers or sling it over the metal bar above the shower.

i’m a girl. i have a triple at dykstra and i really want to switch to sproul res hall or a plaza (preferrably de neve). anyone want to do a room swap in october?

Hi alithyiaiden, I’m a girl and I lived in Sproul in a triple last year (my first year). It’s no where near as hard as your friend makes it out to be. The bathrooms are nice and clean. It’s not annoying to share. The entire year I never had to wait for a shower or toilet. Everyone has their own schedule so it works out fine. I’m living in a plaza this year and I’m a little worried it will be harder sharing one shower with 4 girls than 4 or 5 showers with an entire floor.

The showers are private and clean. It’s not communal. Not at all like a big room where everyone is in there showering together. They’re all stalls that lock. You walk in and there is a little changing room with a bench to put your clothes/towel/shower caddy on. Then you step into the shower and it has a big curtain so water doesn’t splash out or anything. And no quarters are required. haha

The rooms are a little cramped, but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. Do whatever you can to get a big closet, not the loft closet. You will have a lot more storage. I had the loft closet and wished the entire year I had as much storage as my roommates, but I did manage. We kept our room really clean too to make it feel bigger.

Sorry this is long, but I hope this helps
I say stick with Sproul. It’s the nicest of the res halls, and the res halls are the best place (in my opinion) for freshman to live. Oh! And it’s location is really great. Not too far up the hill, close to a lot of dining halls, etc. Haha I just made it longer. If you have more questions, just ask.

No, it’s very detailed which is what I wanted. Thanks for your opinion/experience. Especially for the description of the shower stalls. I have never seen one so I couldn’t really picture it. I though you step right into the shower stall so everything in there would get wet. Well, I have a triple so does that change closet space?

The way we did our closet space was this (it helps if you get there early). You could pick whatever closet you wanted, but the person with the loft closet also got to use one of the tall closets up top, and that worked fine for us. (But then again, we’re guys). I got there first, so I probably got the best deal. Lofted bed, one of the non-lofted closets, and a desk next to the window. What a coup.

Deuces,hi, entering freshman for fall 2009 here. I will be living at Hedrick Summit plaza, triple room. I thought that if you get the loft bed, you will have to also get the loft closet. Is the closet not under the bed? So how can you get a loft bed and a non loft closet?

Regardless of where things are place, it’s something like first come first serve. You get there first and you can probably get the pick of the lot. Does that make sense? As for Summit, the closest arrangement to that was Terrace for me (same layout). I had bottom bunk (bottom is great. sure, people sit on the bed, but it’s easy access), cave desk, and a hallway closet. I traded bottom bunk for loft mid-year since one of the roomies requested a switch. Just try to be accommodate for your roommates. You don’t “Have” to get anything.

no, if you have the loft bed, you should get the desk adjacent to it next to the window.

heres my rationale:

1) many rooms do NOT have ladders, so the easiest way to get on the two top beds is to use the desks right next to them. you arent going to climb on someone else’s desk right? so each far desk should be accompanied with the adjacent top bed.

2) there are drawers under the lone floor bed. the loft closet does not have drawers obviously, but the other two closets have drawers right next to em. if you have the loft closet, you need those drawers to put your boxers and stuff in, so you should also have that bed.

thats how the desk arrangement should be. loft closet guy gets the floor bed, and the other two top beds have their adjacent desks. one of my roommates put all his shyt in the floor bed drawers before i got there AND used some of the other drawers, and i got the loft closet, so i had nowhere to put my boxers =/. dont be like that.

It all works out somehow, there were the two 3-shelf drawers and the underbed drawers. The way it happened, I got the underbed, bottom bunk, cave desk, and hallway closet. Loft got side desk, loft closet, 3-shelf drawer and top buck got hallway closet, 3-shelf, and the double bunk desk. It all worked out since we figured out what worked for everyone.

I don’t know if you were referring to me @zzzboy, but for everyone else’s reference the RT/Summit rooms, the desks are inside and not near the windows, whereas in a hall there will be cave desk + 2 desks near the windows. You’ll see it all.
