Rescheduling SAT?

Hey guys, I’ve been lurking college confidential for a little while now, but I recently wanted to make an account to discuss the slight predicament I am in.

I am a Junior who chose to take the old SAT for the first time this November and I ended up scoring a 2190. I know this is a pretty good score, but I was a little disappointed when I got the results because I am aiming high with my college choices. I’m trying to get a 2300+, but I have not really studied that much yet and the December SAT is right around the corner.

My parents want me to take the SAT only twice and I am signed up for December. Would it be more convenient to move the SAT date to January and get some extra study time in? If so, how do I do this and what are the fees?

Thanks in advance

Lol, wow I’m in the EXACT same situation; although, the December SAT is going to be my first one. I already registered, and I’m pretty sure that I’m going to change the date to the January exam. It would give me much more study time (especially over winter break.)
The fee for changing the date is $28. I think it’s all up to you and if you’re ready for the test (which is in 5 days, aaahhh!) For me, I definitely know that I will not get a 2300+ (we have the same goal!) so I’m going to take a gamble and put all of my energy into one testing date: January. :S

My sister’s in the exact same situation too, what a coincidence! She got the same score as OP, but is aiming for 2300+ as well. She’s planning to take the exam in January because she’s taking the SAT Bio this week. Honestly, if you really are determined to study hard every weekend, possibly every day, then I suggest moving it to January. If you know that you’re not going to study a whole lot anyway, then just stick with December. Just my thoughts! Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I’m going to change my test date to January and study as much as I can until then. If you guys wouldn’t mind would you also give me some study tips? I got a 750 on math, 750 on writing, and 690 on critical reading. I know I can boost the math to an 800 easily since I just made careless errors, but I might need help improving my writing and critical reading scores. Any advice?
