I had a major senioritis this year....
and let my grade slip to bottomless pit.

I recently got into purdue and rutgers with 3.2 gpa and 1930 SAT

but i failed two of my senior year courses (English and Math, possibly Physics), and major grade drops in every subject.

I was being very stupid, thinking that the quarter grades would be averaged after whole year and thinking I would work myself to bring up the final grades to C after doing good in third and fourth quarter.

But then, my school sends 2nd quarter grades which i failed couple classes...

Would that certainly rescind my acceptances?
Would it be helpful if I email or call the admission office to explain my situation and tell them that I would bring my grade up on the second semester?

Are you in danger of not graduating now, too?
I think you need to meet with your counselor to first figure out where you stand.
Then you need to meet with your teachers. You need to apologize, and make a plan for getting yourself back on track.
After you have a realistic plan for second semester, then you can contact the colleges and explain how you are taking responsibility for the hole you have dug yourself into.

Thanks for the fast reply.
I have met my counselor just a moment ago and talked about the situation, and she said she will hold onto the midyear report until the next quarter on the colleges that does not require the midyear report, so I can bring myself up next quarter.

I heard that failing just one quarter doesnt affect the graduation, since the individual quarter grades are averaged out on the final grade.

I am just very worried, and regretting my stupidity to let my grades fall…

Thanks all fir replies
I will never make stupid mistakes like this again.
The conseqequence from procrastinating and being lax is very devastating, and I really hope that this would turn out well…

oomsO, you said that your counselor will hold off sending midyear reports to the colleges that don’t require midyear reports. But – if those colleges don’t require midyear reports, why send them at all, ever? That would give you the rest of the year to remedy your situation, at least for those colleges.

At my S’s school, the guidance office sends out midyear reports only if the student requests, and only to the colleges that the student specifies. I was under the impression that a school would not be permitted to send out a report without the student’s permission (or over the student’s objection), but I’m not sure about that, since it is not an issue at S’s school.

My counselor said its our school policy to send out midyear report anyways… so that is why I am so worried…

If it was just final report that is sent out, all grades would be averaged but since my school shows midyear report (with only second quarter grades only!!!), I have a very high chance of getting rescinded from the schools that require midyear report…
