Rescind admission?

So I've enrolled at UVM for next year, and after a bout with senioritis, I seem to have a bit lower grades than what I applied with. I have typically been around a 'B' average, and this semester will probably end up with a couple of C's, possibly even a D. Does anyone know if this will warrant them to rescind on my admission? Thanks in advance for your responses.

C’s are fine. D’s and F’s will grab attention. Try to get those D’s up to C’s instantly before your final transcripts are sent out.

Does UVM ask for a final high school transcript?

Every school wants to make sure the student actually graduated. How likely they are to rescind an acceptance for bad grades, I don’t know (except for F’s). They do seem to leave themselves the option by the way they word acceptance letters though. I wonder about merit scholarships in particulaar. My son seems to think high school is already over.

Back in my day, colleges didn’t have such nonsense. Actually, graduating from high school is not a prerequisite for matriculation into college. I say let HS seniors blow off some steam and not have to worry, and I’m a teacher. But then again, I’m not a college admissions officer. I doubt that the school would do anything about C’s. Probably even one D is not the end of the world. More than that is probably precarious.

Colleges just want to know that you’re truly serious about your studies for a purpose greater than college admissions.

That said, I’m sure they wouldn’t kill you for a bad grade or two. But the acceptance letters DO say “this offer is contingent on your continued academic achievement” or something to that effect.

thanks for the responses, guys; they’ve been helpful. this may be a moot point; looks like my grades are going to turn out better than expected. it’s about time teachers realize that i’m a second semester senior, and deserve to take a break.

I also applied to UVM this year. My senior year first semester grades are bad… 3 D’s. I am only in 3 classes. This semester I will get 3 A’s. What are Vermont’s requirements, or how big are my chances of being rescinded? I want to go to this school so badly. How often do they rescind students? Will I lose my scholarship?

Leroy, looks like you were really attacked by senioritis. Let us know what happens with you.

It was not entirely senioritis, I had alot going on in my life unfortunately. I should not have let everything affect me the way it did, and allowed my grades to suffer.

Be glad you don’t live in England, after you apply to british universities, they work together and you only get accepted to one university and they tell you exactly what grades you need to get, in what classes, senior year, to get in to that school. If you fall apart at the end, you take a gap year and try again.
