Rescind Applications

I am a high school senior and I am taking AP European History. I thought I was doing well but then I got a C- in the end of the first quarter and I am freaking out about the second quarter. All the rest of my grades are mostly A’s and one to two B’s. Will colleges rescind my application if they see a D after first semester?

Not sure what you mean by “rescind your application”. They might reject you if they are concerned about your grades or if they have already accepted you, they might rescind their offer but usually they will send you a warning letter first and you would have time to get your grade up to an acceptable range before you graduate.

If you thought you were doing well and ended up with a C-, it speaks to the very large disconnect between you and your teacher. Make sure you go see him/her right away and figure out why you are so out of sync rather than just freaking out about it. And yes, a D on your transcript fall quarter of senior year raises lots of questions for admissions - you start to look like a risky choice. You don’t want that to happen so make sure you are doing everything you can to turn that C- into a B starting with some frank conversation about what went wrong here.

there is no such thing as “rescind my application”. They may, however, rescind your admission if you get a D. Many colleges (such as the UC system in CA) have clauses in their admission offer in which they say they can rescind an admission offer if you get a grade below a C or fail to maintain a specified GPA senior year.

sorry guys. I meant ‘admission’. I don’t know why I said ‘application’

You really want to do everything in your power to avoid D’s.
