Rescind Emergency HELP?!?

Hi, here are my second semester grades: E, B, B, A, A, A, C

= Cumulative GPA: 2.86

Will I get rescinded?!!?

What was your GPA before?

3.67 was my previous GPA.

I’ve never gotten a C or E before, just a lot of Bs.

Oh man, you got an E? Epic fail!

Ok, I’d appreciate some more constructive advice…thanks.

That was a joke.

Is an E like an F?

yes, its the same thing in our system.

If your school only sends final grades, you should be fine. Hopefully that second semester “E” doesn’t bring down your entire yearly average, will it? (Well, by much?)

I have three pieces of advice, but before I give it I need to be honest and say that I do not speak for Brown and cannot say what they will or will not do. My advice is:

 1. Find out how much the E and the C will bring down your yearly averages, and if Brown will see the semester averages. That is critical. Brown is such an elite school that they are probably more willing to rescind you and take other kids off the waitlist.
 2. Is there any legitimate reason for the grade slip? Like, excessive absences due to illness, family problem, etc? If so, you may have a case.
 3. If all else fails, it is IMPERATIVE that you call Brown and tell them you will have a grade slip. Act very geunine and seem like you don’t know how it happened, the material got uncharacteristically hard, or if you have a reason, tell them. Do this regardless because if they see an E and a C and they haven’t been told, you have a chance of being rescinded.
