rescind

would columbia rescind my ed acceptance over a c??
my current grades, aaabbbc.
this is a worst case scenario of what my mid year report MIGHT look like. it's freaking me out. i'm really trying, but physics is killing me.
can someone shed some insight into admissions getting rescinded??

columbia has never rescineded to my knowledge, but often has sent stern emails, letters, and on the rarest of occasions an admisisons officer might call an admitted student to try and figure out what happened.

students can enter on probation. and i have heard of a case where a student was encouraged to take a year off (not at columbia, but a peer school). i’d say rescind is on the table (aka possible), but highly improbable for one poor grade. if you flunked out, maybe.

^but since im not flunking, nor will i be flunking, i should calm the heck down and just try and maintain these grades? and possibly make the c a b?

yeah, calm down. do better. don’t stress out, not good for your skin.

Even if you fail, you likely won’t have your acceptance rescinded. A friend of mine (SCEA to Yale) got a low D in a class last year, and he had to send some letters to Yale explaining it, but they never rescinded the acceptance. I think rescinding acceptances for academic reasons is more of a myth than a reality. If you were caught plagiarizing or selling drugs, though, I’m sure your acceptance would be rescinded.

OMG Physics. my grade in that class isn’t the most stellar either.

and I’ve also heard that admission officers realize that some students can try VERY HARD, and still made B’s and C’s in upper level classes such as AP Calc BC. I’m not sure if Physics applies (I sure think it does!). But yeah just do your best, and you should be fine!

yea i asked my counselor~~~ she said b’s + c’s mix would even be fine. it’s okay. im out of the woods. thanks for your responses guyss

I have the exact same problem with you. Two Cs and a B right now in 3/5 AP courses. The worst part of this is I’m afraid I might lose out my valedictorian position, so I really gotta step it up at least until midterms are over in January.

^ haha jealous. I lost my valedictorian after a 89 in precal. sooooooookkkkkkksssssssssssssss lol

^^ i got straight As and still lost my valedictorian spot. =/ my school is super ■■■■■■■■ and it APs count for more. as do A+s. so a few kids took the easy APs and got the A+s and beat me while i take AP Calc 2 an AP Physics and all that good stuff. ):

well i transferred schools in middle of my junior year. I made a 96 at my old school; my new school didn’t allow calculator use in precal (WTH???). So I ended up with a C, after struggling, which averaged with my score from old school to a B.

It’s cuz the teacher was a stupid as ■■■■. This year, in AP Calc, I made a 95.

Some teachers shouldn’t teach. seriously.

LOL ended up with aaaaabb. YAY for legit bsing abilities!!

dude breakdown, nice, high five!!!

yeah i was banking on aaaaabbc, but ended with at least aaaaaaab, haha. high five for sucking up/begging abilities!!!

lol jk. for the most part i worked my butt off. haha. no senioritis for me  (or should it be :frowning: ???) lol.

Your stories give me hope! I hope I can still retain my val…
