Rule of thumb is 2 or more C’s, or 1 D or F

I understand that much of this is anecdotal, but when you mention a .5 drop in GPA, is that referring to the prospective student’s cumulative GPA or just to the applicant’s 7th/8th (or whatever his/her last semesters are) semester GPA?

Yes, I am referring to senior year.

Sorry for my rudeness, but could anyone answer my question (post #9) please? Thank you.

neo, rescinding only happen as a very last resort…well hell has broken loose. Why would you even think that any reasonable university would rescind an acceptance for a student dropping one AP class for another? You should contact admissions to inform them of the change, but there will be not rescinding of offers.

How did we get to grad school? Isn’t the OP a hs senior? Mich 2015? Who even knows his major or post-grad plans?

How much a hs senior year grade drop hurts depends on the particular class. A drop in a calc grade for a non-STEM major just isn’t deadly. Sticking with calc, if you’re a lib arts major, can be viewed positively, even if there is concern about the performance in that class.

And I know that directly from a Director of Admissions.
