I have been accepted to Cal Berkeley. However, I had to drop one of my 5 AP Classes so I could get a job to help my parents current financial situation. It was AP Stats. I already have 5 years of Math including AP Calc which I got a 5 on. The Stats was just an extra AP Class but I needed to drop it so I could get off early to go to my job. I will notify Berkeley. I know technically they have the right to revoke my acceptance but will they? What are the chances that they will? I have heard people getting their acceptance revoked for bad grades but I have a great GPA and I even passed the AP Stats class first semester with an A. I still intend to take the AP Test.

Thank You.

Hey, kdubhotsauce,

I don’t think it should be a problem - I dropped my AP Lit class, notified Berkeley, and they said that it was of no concern to my admission status. So just let them know! They were really helpful and friendly to me about it (the email was obviously written by a student aide, though). Just email freshmanadmit@berkeley.edu. Good luck!

What if I wrote on my UC App that I was going to take an AP Test but I later changed my mind and am not going to. Will that affect my decision?

It may affect your decision; but it won’t make UCB to change their decision ;-)

Okay, so it is alright to tell them that I am not taking an AP test as intended? Haha, thanks Pentaprism, that was a good one!

Hahaha… It’s OK if you tell them. But I don’t think they care. The AP exam results are only for UCB to give you credits.

Lats year, my daughter dropped an AP exam at the last minute when she found out that UCB COE wouldn’t give her any credit for that exam (there’s a limit as how many credits you can get for AP exams). She’d rather spend time on something else instead. She didn’t tell anybody and UCB didn’t care.

Thank you so much, I just emailed them!
