Rescinded for EC change???

Hi everybody,

I am a bit worried about this. I was recently accepted to and committed to my first choice school (in the HYP trio). Some of the extracurriculars I had on my common app changed since submitting them. For example, an app that I had outsourced and was supposed to publish on the App Store ended up having exorbitant server costs, so it has been delayed indefinitely.

I realized recently after getting an estimated zero dollars of financial aid that I really need to make some money, so I expanded my tutoring business, but now I can’t do a service activity that I listed on the CA.

So… Would these changes make it look like I was lying? Is there something I should do/should I be worried?

Thanks for your help!

Call the school to ask.

It’s a normal course of business. You weren’t admitted b/c of that – you were admitted b/c of your academic potential and likely, your ability to set up the venture – even one that has not progressed as planned. You’re fine. No one is going to “certify” that you kept through to the bitter (and illogical) end to the venture.

So…you lied on your app to improve your chances and now you’re worrying about getting caught. Hmmmm.

You got a slot that might have gone to someone who didn’t put on extra lipstick. Hmmmm.

Good luck. Life is a tough schoolhouse.

Thanks to those who gave constructive advice.

@rednecktiger‌. I neither lied nor cheated on anything. Unfortunately, my family doesn’t have the money to drop an extra 3k in unforeseen costs for an iOS app. Nor do we have the money to shell out an average American income for tuition. Because we didn’t get what we were hoping for in financial aid, money will be tight, and I have to work.

I appreciate your input, but I hope you are far less judgmental in real life.

Peace

Fine. Fess up to your school of choice and accept the consequences, if any. And I seriously doubt there will be any.

You’re the one having a conscience issue. See post #1 for details.

As for iOS apps—don’t get me started. George Orwell meet Apple.
