Rescinded/Forced Deferral of Admissions: What Next?

Hey everyone,

Basically I was justly rescinded by my college of choice recently. I carefully and thoroughly wrote an appeal, and the result was that I will still be able to attend the college, just not this fall.

While I don't mind taking a year off, I am an international student so I do have Visa issues to worry about, in addition to family issues.

To keep it short, is it too late to accept offers from the other colleges I received acceptances to, despite the fact that it's well past the May 1st deadline? (Additional deposits/etc. are not an issue)

Thanks guys,
Anonymous

It’s up to each college to decide whether or not to admit you this late in the process. If they still have room, it’s possible you can matriculate. I think it’s definitely worth calling the admissions office at each school and explain the situation and see what happens. Just be prepared to answer the question, why were you rescinded. These schools may be concerned that you did not maintain the required GPA, or failed to meet the final requirements in some other way.
