My friend is worried about the possibility of him being rescinded from Emory. He initially got wait listed when decisions first came out, but then they called him to tell him he got accepted. His grades were good for the most part second semester except he ended up getting a semester grade D in pre-cal. He wasn't slacking off, mainly just struggling in that particular class as he maintained mostly A's and a couple B's in all his other classes. I know its broad and hard to accurately determine, but how much does he really have to worry? Thanks

I doubt it. When studying and taking my 6 AP exams the latter part of my senior year, I let one (and only, as I was in enrolled in all APs and an honors course in addition to it) of my electives go (It was an engineering/design elective. I hardly cared for it because the teacher was a noob). I got a D in it and As (maybe 1 B) in the rest (plus nearly all 4-5s on APs except for the 3 in calc.) and they did not rescind. I think most of your friend’s grades would have to be low for them to consider rescinding admission. I also feel for your friend. When I took “analysis” in 9th or 10th grade (like an applied version of trig/pre-calc.), it was very intense and almost everyone, including the top students failed the exams (though he was a good teacher, the exams were…really intense and took some time to get the hang of). I didn’t do particularly well in it (maybe a B, but no higher, I just know it was an epic struggle, yet calc. was so much easier to me) This rendering of pre-calc. was more like a physics class instead of a pure math class.
