Even if you do not get rescined from the university as a whole, is it possible to be rescinded from a specific college? For example, can the College of Engineering decide to rescind you because of poor senior year grades while you are still allowed to stay in the university? (Maybe they will just put you in Undecided or Division of General Studes)

First of all, it’s super hard to get rescinded at all. You would literally have to get more than 2 Fs, and even if you do, you can always submit a letter explaining why it happened.

Secondly, I doubt that they would retract your offer of admission from one college, yet open up an offer of admission from another college. Think about it; they would kick you out of say, Engineering, but then have to open up a spot for you in DGS. It’s more likely that they would retract the entire offer all together.

never heard of anyone getting rescinded.

They reserve the right to rescind. If they do they won’t be offering another program, they will just rescind. It does not happen often but it can happen. Highest risk is for those who get a D or F in a course required for admission and the issue becomes whether you have met required coursework for admission.

i got a 2.6 for my gov class last semester(7th semester) (B’s for both quarters and a D for the exam). and overall, my 7th semester’s GPA is 3.8 W and around 3.6 UW. when i applied, my GPA was 3.925 W and around 3.75-3.8 UW. will i get rescinded?

Haha, no, you won’t. You got a B in a class…and you’re worried?

i got B’s for both quarters, but for the final semester grade i had a 2.6 in that class, and my transcript only shows that number. but my school’s grading scale is 2.6-3.4=B. do they use my school’s grading scale or their own?

anyone???

Dude, calm down, you’re fine. They may not even look at your senior year grades. And a 2.6 in one class is not considered “poor grades”. This is a public institution, not MIT’s honor’s program, they’re not going to kick you out unless you fail out of high school or get some sort of felony charge.

Relax, a friend of mine failed 3 classes his senior year so he had like a 1.something GPA that semester, they emailed him saying his file was going to a committee in the college he was accepted to be reviewed and he could email back with an explination why he did so poorly (he had medical issues) and they emailed him back in July and told him he was good. So as long as you dont totally fall off a cliff, you’ll be fine. Some of you people need to relax as long as you have a 2.0+ I would say.
