Hi all,
I’m currently an IB student (HL Bio, Chem, Psych; SL Math, Spanish, English) and I feel like I’m on the verge of getting rescinded. Planned to be a movement science major at the UMich School of Kinesiology. Well, my bio and chem grades tanked in my second semester. They’re both finalized at a 77 (C- at my school), and my other classes are all B’s and one A. My biggest fear is that both bio and chem are heavily related to my major, and it’s a HUGE drop from my previous semesters (92 average for both).
My situation is that for bio, I tanked the first three tests but aced the last one. My reason for tanking it is actually because my mom has cancer and it’s at its terminal stage now, so she’s only got < 3 months at max, so I was at the hospital a lot trying to take care of her. For chem, aced the first test and BOMBED (18% lol) the second one. For you IB kids, it was a test on Option C (energy) but I ended up doing Option B (biochemistry) for the actual exam. Moreover, bio and chem were the only classes with actual content left, which could explain why my other grades are relatively high.
Either way, my bio and chem grades are trash, and I’m damn scared I’m about to get rescinded. Could anyone offer any guidance?

Really sorry about your mother. You should be fine but reaching out to your local Michigan rep for guidance might put your mind at ease. Look up on Michigan site or ask your high school counselor.
Best wishes to you and your family.
So sorry about your mom. You probably will be fine, but I might ask your guidance counselor to send a note describing your personal situation along with the final transcript.
You will be fine. But it’s good to have your counselor shoot a quick e mail to the school and talk about your situation.
