So I got accepted into UIUC for electrical engineering through early action, so they had no idea what my senior grades would be. I got 3 As, 1 B+, and one B first semester. The B+ was in English (My ACT English is 34 and my TOEFL is 114 so I’m not too worried about that) and the B was in AP Calculus (I know that’s really bad for someone going for engineering). I don’t really have an excuse for my grades other than that my schedule is quite busy (3 APs including two online). I don’t expect to get a grade worse than a B this semester but I do feel like I might get one or two Bs. I know that some other people who applied from my school also got Bs and B+s in AP Calc as well. Do universities only rescind offers for Cs or below or would my case potentially be a problem as well? I generally get As or A-s but I have had some Bs and B+s.
You should be fine. Most schools do not rescind unless it is significantly worse, showing a lapse in ability or maturity. For instance from the W&M blogs: http://wmblogs.wm.edu/admiss/you-cant-spell-calculus-without-2-cs/
Check the UIUC site to see if it has any specific rules about senior grades, but in general, B’s are nothing to worry about at all, and I’d be pretty surprised if UIUC were a major outlier on that matter.
Thanks for the replies, it’s good to know that it is hard to lose my initial offer.
