damnit i got a d.....what do i do now? is there any way to get around it without taking a cc class cuz im not sure the cc class is equivalent. and the counselor doesn't know either. wow im reallly paranoid

just hope for the best.

my friend called UCSD today about a D and they told her that just because she's trying to make up the grade at a community college won't gaurantee her from NOT getting rescinded. they even told her "but you are most likely subjected to cancellation of your admission" at the end of their conversation.

fyi, she got a D in AP Physics, this was her 4th year of science also.

so... what do you do? hope for the best. that's all you can do. good luck man.

So long as you're a decently good applicant, a D won't get you rescinded (my friend got a D in statistics the semester before college at UCI and was just told to do well first semester and another who got a C- in some class and went to UCSD without a problem with a 2.8 his last semester)

yeah but uci is completely different from ucsd, they say nowhere in their contract that you can't have a d...ucsd explicitly says this...and the 2.8 may not have been calculated correctly...it's weighted a-g courses only, combining 2 semesters...so if he had a 3.2 first semester than that is why he wasn't rescinded...

point being, do not listen to the advice "don't worry about it"...as much as i wish you could

Last time I checked, UCI's provisional contract says No D's or F's.

Every case is different. You can't base the UC's rescinding policies on one person. The UC's rescind at their own discretion. (At the UCSC board, there's some girl who got rescinded for getting a D in pre-calc... But she worked her way through community college and transferred to UCSC as a junior). They'll let some stay and they'll let some go.

I agree with cr. Yes, worry about it but not to the point where you're about to kill yourself. Do everything you can to NOT get rescinded. Hope for the best!

i have a question. in my ap comp gov class second semester, i got major senioritis and cut class like.... a lot. i didnt know my teacher actually cared about cuts and it turns out, i might end up with a C in citizenship or worse because of the cuts. will i get automatically revoked?

No one cares if you get a C in an AP class. If it's a D, then you're in trouble.

anyone get rescinded yet? sad to read the stories above

Well, I think this will be the first casualty we'll hear in CC.

This guy in my AP physics got rescinded from UCSD a week ago. They told him earlier than they usually would have because he's in that OASIS program. Anyway, he was in my AP Physics class and he got a D first semester and a F second semester so it's not really much of a shocker.. Not feeling much sorry for him though since he literally sat around class and did nothing. Anyway my physics teacher is a dumb *******.. He failed like four other UCSD students who actually did try. They're still awaiting their fate.

i think all of you are screwed.

^ lol probably but then there are those random exceptions.

i think people who get D's no matter the reason should be rescinded because it doesn't show that the student is capable of overcoming those difficult situations. In college, there won't be those second chances. Welcome to reality.

Actually, once you actually have some life experience under you're belt (beyond college), I think you'll find that things aren't as black and white as you believe them to be. Your own inflexibility causes you to see things that way, as opposed to the spectrum of possibilities, causes, and situations.

here's a new predicament for you guys.

what if i got 4 C's 2nd semester (thats right... count em), but no Ds or Fs and my combined semester gpa is above a 3.0?

technically i fulfill all the requirements in the contract (barely). will they still rescind me because of the drastic drop in performance?

ucsd is very formulaic about their admissions process, so my best guess is since you met the requirements, you're fine

have you not received the checkmark on transcript validated? because i'm pretty sure it means you've met their contract requirements for grades...

nope i'm asking about it because my transcript hasn't been validated yet. the transcript received box got checked about 2.5-3 weeks ago.

mine took about 3 weeks...so i wouldn't be THAT worried...but i can still understand your worry, getting rescinded has a huge impact on your life currently.

best of luck.

my transcript got validated today!

thx everyone for their help =D

mine too :)
