Rescinded?

I got in ED Engineering, but Cornell never saw my first marking period grades, so I'm worried that my Midyear Report might look dismal enough to be rescinded.

Senior year, I'm looking at approximately:
4 A
1 A-
1 B/B- (AP Calc)
1 B-/C+ (AP Bio)

How worried should I be about getting rescinded?
Can you get rescinded from a Midyear Report? Would a warning come first?

I really doubt they'd even consider rescinding with grades like that. I'm pretty sure that only comes into play if you start getting D's and F's, or MAYBE a lot of C's.

I think they would only rescind anyone who has lower than a 75 average in all of his/her classes. It would be really hard for them to rescind an ED applicant b/c Cornell does have a heart, and they know that they will have screwed that person since they withdrew all of their other applications, my motto is to get no lower than a C+ (80-83) in any class, I'm shooting for nothing lower than a B, 84-89, your grades are fine, plus they expect that in an AP class, however try to bring your Calc grade up, not for Cornell, but for yourself, since you are doing Engineering, my opinion, could be wrong, im not an adcom person

dont worry about it. they may only make you explain your grades, and those are not bad at all.

u should be fine, just don't get a C, congratualations on ur acceptance!!! are you willing to share how you got in? what were your stats like? i just finished my RD app

They wont rescind you for that, but dont let it go any further, kay?

BTW, maybe those lower grades are actually healthy...theyll prepare you for what to expect come next year...:-b

Yawn.

Poor little thing and his 3.65 unweighted GPA.

He's probably the same kind of kid who put up those posts back in the application-sending days that made us all sick. You know, the "800 math 760 verbal, perfect SATII scores, handwritten recommendation from the president of the U.S., do I have a chance of getting in? I'm so worried" kids.

If you are honestly worried about those grades than I would be more worried about attending Cornell next year. Because if a 3.65 senior year of high school makes you anxious, the grades you get when competing against fellow Cornell Engineering students (I say competing bc all engineering classes are curved) are going to make Fall Creek Gorge look downright tempting.

Joking aside, I have never heard a firsthand account of Cornell rescinding admission. I tend to think it would require 1) completely failing last semester, or 2) a felony conviction.

So calm down, dude.

Or, as my math 191 T.A. put it after our second prelim, "Try not to think about it and go have yourself a beer."

I gotta agree with perro406 on this one.

First, you are only in danger of having your acceptance rescinded if you are in the low 2 range in your GPA (that means having C's in all of your classes).

Secondly, be prepared to accept GPA's lower than gasp 3.7 at Cornell. Happens to the best of them. I pulled a 3.55 this past semester and my cum. GPA is only around 3.76. I'm not too worried as I'm sure my GPA will be around 3.8 by the time I apply to med school but I, too, get a kick out of kids on this message board freaking about because they got a 3.65 their senior year.

Theres a 3.7 at Cornell?!?

:b

I'm prepared to get worse grades at Cornell, but I've got to get there first... I just don't know where the line is, so I'm being cautious... I didn't have below a B on my transcript when I applied, so I'm concerned now that I'm getting my first C.

i understand all of your complaints. i go to a really hard high school in L.A. and they give out C's like candy. i'm scared. i need to know of any real stories of how acceptances got rescinded so that i can feel better. but true, like someone said, they can't totally screw us because we withdrew our apps from other schools...oh man that would suck really hard....

This thread is moronic and needs to die, and y'all need to chill out.

No one is getting their admission rescinded.

The reason why you havent heard any true stories of this happening is because, quite frankly, it doesnt happen. You would have to do so dismally that its practically impossible.

So calm down and have that beer I mentioned.

how can u be getting a B-/C+ in AP bio. that is the funnest and easiest AP science... at least at my school. =) and i'm sure they'll understand ur slighly lower grades since they are APs. i did slightly bad this semester too. A in statistics, A in AP spanish, B+ in english, B+ in BC calc, B in AP Physics.

as long as you dont get lots of C's or below than don't worry at all. don't listen to people who say no one has ever been rescinded. This genius girl at my school was after she got accepted into Standford early action. She got lazy and got Cs and they took away their offer.

and just yesterday the college counselor told the senior class how one kid had to go to a community college for 1st semester in college cuz Harvard rescinded their offer during the summer cuz of his bad 2nd semester grades.

but again it is rare, but won't happen unless you really dont try.

The grades aren't given out by the material, they're given out by the teacher... and my teacher happens to give out low grades.

Yuck, I couldn't stand AP Bio. Thus the reason I am not a bio major like many of the people on this board. (More power to you, though!! You have my respect!!!)

what's wrong with a 3.7? it's an a-...? FREAKS... not all of you
