haha, math b is the worst regents ever.

after math b you guys go straight to calc?

haha, math b is the worst regents ever.

after math b you guys go straight to calc?

Yeah if you passed the regents you either get placed in discret math, college now, precal, or calc depending on which one they think you could handle. I wish I could have just dropped math. -_- Only like 40% of my school passed this one, it was pretty sad.

My friend from last year who got accepted regular acceptance recently told me she had a final grade of 65 for AP Statistic. She got accepted to CAS. So one 65 won’t hurt maybe not even 2. Just don’t get all of your classes 65 lol.

Wow, what a nightmare. I’m so grateful to be almost two years out of high school…

adamsbomb - You’re golden for bringing Gossip Girl into this. I always wonder if the Yale section mentions it but am too lazy to check, LOL.

Sooooo. I have a question. Exactly which grades do NYU check? As in, from which quarters? Or do they just look at your averages? If they look at third quarter specifically, then I may be screwed.

“Definitely in the same boat as you guys. I wish teachers would realize that it’s less about me being lazy and way more about being EXHAUSTED for the last four years and taking a breather before starting all over again for ANOTHER four years.” -adamsbomb

wow, you took the words right out of my mouth. i mean, I’m excited to be starting somewhere new and all that, but give me a break for a few months. I’m so jealous of seniors who come home at like 10 am. i have a full schedule- 8-3 no lunch, which is worse that what i had FRESHMAN YEAR. dont ask why, my school is ■■■■■■■■. its sad, i know.

I seriously doubt that, unless you fail a few classes or drop some, your offer will be rescinded. Be careful about disciplinary stuff, though; a lot of schools are totally unforgiving to suspensions. A friend of mine had his offer rescinded from as top school he applied ED to because of that…

When you say “dropping some” classes, you mean more than one right? I have a rigorous schedule, and it was literally eating me alive. I made it through AP Bio, which was one credit, but I decided just to audit AP Bio Lab (meaning, I still go to the class, but I don’t take it for a grade), which is half a credit. I’m still taking the AP test, but I suppose that could be counted as a dropped class? I don’t see it as a big deal, but will they?

I’m considering dropping a class and having a Withdraw Passing because the workload is just too much…Would NYU care?

Depends how big the class is. If it is like AP or Honors then they will like an explanation as to why.

What works as an explanation? I needed to increase my hours at work because I’m paying for college by myself. Because of this, I was overwhelmed with all my APs and decided to cut AP Bio Lab, which I don’t need to graduate, and which I now audit. There’s no way I’m working my butt off to afford NYU just to have them rescind me for not completing half a credit that I don’t even need.

hi guys
do you think a C and a C+ in AP classes and 1 A and B’s elsewhere in my first semester will lead my admission to revocation??? total weighted GPA 3.3…(non weighted is 2.8 but this does not show on my transcript)
i posted this question on the NYU forum and the borad of admission says that it depends on my entire transcript and my senior year grades should be CONSISTENT with those of the past… this makes me super nervous…and scared… - -

“Typically, it takes a few D’s before to rescind”

I read other posts on the board, and they make it sound like rescinding really doesn’t happen very often. But yeah, I’m nervous as well. But I need to work long hours or else I can’t afford to go. Plus I dropped a half credit AP, which makes me worried about this: “…all offers of admission are contingent upon the successful completion of the course work that you have in progress at the time that you apply.”

Gah, I’ll call them eventually and pose an anonymous question about it probably.

Withdrawal from classes are very normal as long you have legitimate excuse. But don’t explain it unless they ask about it. I do not think it is a problem since it’s not like you fail the class.

AP grades and NY regents don’t really count. The NY regents is only restricted to NY state, not like they got other students to compare with from other states or countries. AP grades are only good for transferring credit.

The only classes NYU mostly cares are the classes you need for graduation from high school. I fail gym one semester and NYU did not care (I only need to pass gym 6/8 semesters to graduate from high school).

I’m just ready to goooo! I should be done with Calc and physics not worrying if I can go to college if I don’t do well in them.

just dont fail them just in case, you never know. calculus and physics seems a lot more important than gym.

Just suck it up and get B’s…I mean if you got into NYU, you should be able to get the grades even if senioritis kicks in…come on are you willing to throw away your dream because you’re lazy? Get real

So steady B’s (and maybe a C in a really impossible AP Econ class with a new, not-yet-competent teacher) will most likely keep me safe? NYU knows I learn towards the English side of things, so the C shouldn’t hurt.
