Rescinding admissions final report

Hi.

I applied to Yale, Cornell, Stanford, MIT, and UC's

Worst case scenario second sem grades looks like

orchestra A
AP physics B
AP spanish B
AP econ A
AP computer science B (most likely an A, but B's still possible)
AP Engilsh C

That brings my weighted GPA to a 4.0 (i used to have around 4.4 freshman to 1st sem senior yr) and unweighted to 3.17 if I get a B in compsci.

Would having those grades get me rescinded from any private college i might get into? I'm fine for UC"s since UW is above 3.0 and i dont' have D or F.

Thanks!

Maybe, maybe not. I would use all your might to bring that C up.

With a 3.17UW I have trouble believing you’ll make it into those four (extremely select) schools.

No one sees your second semester grades-- only the final grades for the year. If your first semester were more solid, maybe you will get a B- in English?

That said, no one is going to be rescinded at any of these schools for one C - and from the looks of it, you’re a math/sci person - so the C in English isn’t going to kill you either. If you get a C in Physics or Comp Sci and are an engineering major-- it could raise some questions. Questions- means potential probation…

@mom2012 and14 wait im kinda confused because it seems from several posts that second sem grades are not the same as final grades.

@erin’s dad i had around 3.76UW and 4.4 weighted excluding senior yr second sem.

^^ and ^: A lot of schools use transcripts where second semester and first semester grades are separate. The way the OP has phrased the question, it does seem that colleges will be seeing his/her second semester grades.

The C is a bit iffy (I have one too), but often, as long as you have honestly worked your hardest, above a D is okay. Have you worked your hardest?

You already have your results from MIT and the UC’s don’t you? (Unless you were waitlisted).

reject from MIT

got into LA and SD. I’m not worried about UC’s because i’ve read the provisional contract. I just can’t get D or F and need 3.0 unweighted. The other A’s in my classes balances out the potential C so I’m fine for UC’s…im just worried about privates since they might have more stringent requirements and such.
