Rescinding ED application; hurt my chances at other schools?

I applied ED to upenn. The decisions come out this Monday so they are not out yet. If I withdraw my application there, I know that they can show other schools their ED list if they so choose.

What are the chances that me rescinding the upenn app would effect my acceptances so schools I applied to RD and EA?

Thanks a lot

Bump please

Don’t withdraw your app. Just tell Penn (quickly) that you want to change your app from ED to RD. That will have no effect on your chances at other schools.

If you are no longer an ED candidate, you are no longer on the ED list, so there’s nothing to show.

You need to move quickly, some school do not allow switching off the ED list at the last minute. The longer you wait, the more likely this will happen. (Of course, they might have rejected you, in which case it’s all moot.)

What is the reason I should give to Upenn when I request them to move my application from ED to RD?

Bump please, thanks

You don’t have to give them a reason. Since you’re thinking about this move you know the reason … if asked you could tell the actual answer.

As mentioned earlier schools only can share lists of accepted ED students … by law, they can not share lists of applicants or of admitted RD students. We’re not sure what your concern is but other schools will not know anything about you Penn application unless you tell them or unless you are accepted ED.
