Rescinding policy?

What do you have to do to get rescinded from Case? Aside from the obvious (committing crimes, plagiarizing, etc), how bad do your grades have to be to get rescinded? I have a (slim) chance of getting a D in AP chem. I have one B and As in everything else. Pretty worried.

Although my S decided not to attend CWRU , it was his top choice for a long time and he was in the same situation. He called his admission rep about potentially dropping down to Calc AB from Calc BC and he was advised that they preferred seeing him take the more rigorous course and challenge himself even if got an F. Since Case is more selective than the school he ultimately chose, we thought we’d be safe but apparently this other school is less holistic and less about learning and more about the grade. So we’re sweating it out until the end of the year. The focus on learning was one of the reasons I thought Case was a good fit for S but oh well.

However, I would definitely call to discuss your specific situation.

Colleges generally do not like to rescind, especially for a difficult course. Call your admissions rep to let them know the current situation, and then try to get through the end of the year by at least passing. Also, if you haven’t already done so, meet with your teacher. The vast majority of teachers like to see their students succeed, and are very uncomfortable when they fail.
