I am taking 4 Ap’s and got 2 C’s and 3 b’s and an A, my csu dropped a little bit but is still above a 3.0, is there a chance of me being rescinded?

Just do not get a D and you will be fine.

So it’s a 2.0+ and no d’s?

Can anyone confirm? I need to put my mind at rest

When I got in they said that I couldn’t get any D’s and had to maintain my GPA.

So I would assume no D’s while maintaining what your GPA is when you applied

Well I mean it dropped like .3ish

[Terms & Conditions - Admissions - Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo](<a href=“Cal Poly Admissions”>Cal Poly Admissions)

I get that, but I’m confused on maintain overall gpa, mine dropped some but not drastically like by a point

I’ve heard it can drop by .5, can anyone confirm that?

anyone? i just calculated it and my CSU GPA dropped .23 to a 3.17

aspady, I can’t confirm officially, but the drop you mention doesn’t seem like grounds for rescinding. Just keep working hard and if you need an official answer call the school, anonomously, LOL!

you complete all coursework designated on your application as “in progress” or “planned” with a grade of “C” or better while maintaining your reported overall grade point average.

whoever wrote that last section I quote above didn’t think it through very clearly. Assuming most applicants have about a 3.8 GPA or higher, “maintaining your reported overall grade point average” would necessarily mean that Sr. year grades would need to also be 3.8 or higher.

Since we know this is absurd (we know this because no other college I know of in the country requires that the GPA on the admissions applicaiton must be the GPA of Sr. year), you can just forget about that last phrase, and concentrate on the part that does make sense… a grade of C or better in all courses.

If you get a D in AP Calculus, for example, which happens a lot, you should tell admissions now rather than wait for them to receive your transcript. With enough time, they might allow you to take Calculus at a community college, and with a passing grade, still honor your admissions.

I asked admissions, they said it happens alot and it’s ok

Bump. What if I received a D first semester of senior year? Am I rescinded for sure? And can I accept their admission offer AND another college’s offer in case I get rescinded from SLO?

I’m not sure about the D but I don’t see why not accept another admission offer. I accepted Cal Polys in February and I didn’t hear back from UCSD until March 16th. They also accepted me with a generous financial aid package, so it doesn’t affect other college decisions in any way if that’s your concern. Even if you accepted their offer, if you miss a deadline your application is withdrawal.
Hope this helps.

yes, accept both offers of admission, and SIR to both. Pay both deposits to reserve your spot in the freshman class.

Next, work with Admissions (that is, speak to them by phone and send them your mid-year transcript) to see if your D grade will cause your Cal Poly admissions (and the other school frankly) to be rescinded. I would assume, as I wrote above, that if you give Admissions enough warning, they might be able to offer you a solution… such as, just brainstorming here… a C grade or better for your Final course grade, or the ability to retake the class at a Community College over summer with a passing grade, or, they might say your application was strong enough even with the D grade and tell you that they will not rescind you based on that one D grade. Of course, there are still 2nd semester grades to be concerned with.

Lastly, you have to weigh your own risk/reward equation. There is the risk that by alerting Admissions, you will be rescinded, and that by NOT alerting them, your D grade will slip through the cracks unnoticed. You’ve got to make that risk/reward call on your own based on the best information you can gather.

Thanks for the reply.
So, if I accept Cal Poly and another school, there is no way for these schools to find out I accepted both right? I’m also appealing to UCI, so I’ll be considering that decision as well…

right…

do you mean you were denied admission into UCI? If so, how could you win an appeal with a D grade 1st semester of Senior year? Wouldn’t that be nonsensical? If you were on the Admissions Committee, and in the best case, found an applicant just barely missed the bar for admissions, and in the Appeal process learn the applicant got a D in Sr. year, why would you overrule your own initial judgment?

I reported the D to UCI before the decision was made and I believe that it was a major factor in my rejection. They already knew about the D because it was first semester and I had to report it. In the appeal letter, I try to get them to overlook it.
