Rescission?

Dear CC,

I am currently a senior and I was accepted to Yale Early Action this winter. As far as second semester is going, everything is fine. Everything, except my EPGY Online mathematics class. I decided to take the online Multi-Variable Calculus class through the Stanford EPGY program because I completed Calculus BC last year. I did not want to go a year without challenging math. The class grade does not appear on my transcript, although I reported it as a class i would be taking senior year on the common application. The class is graded pass/fail. So far, I am overwhelmed with self-teaching the material and I am not sure I will be able to successfully complete the course. Would a fail in this class (graded pass/fail) mean a rescission?

Thanks!

I doubt it as you would probably have to test for credit for it at Yale anyway as it is pass/fail. Try not to fail it though. Perhaps there is a tutoring service you could go to for help?

Well yea I will do my best to pass. Just worried that the F would look bad. Even though it’s a pass/fail class…

bumpppppppp

There was a parent on the Parents’ Board a while back who also had a kid who was very high achieving but who was having real problems dealing with the extra EPGY course, so you’re not alone. What about calling Yale, letting them know that you’d much prefer to take the course with a professor when you get to school as opposed to on line, which you find much less productive, and will it affect your admission status if you withdraw from the class? If they say you have to finish the class, you’ll be in no worse shape than you are now, but maybe they’ll say it’s fine to pull out. (I actually think that the latter might very well happen, but you won’t know until you ask.)

You’ve been told on both your threads that you should contact the school for accurate info.
