Rescission?

Dear CC,

I am currently a senior and I was accepted to Yale Early Action this winter. As far as second semester is going, everything is fine. Everything, except my EPGY Online mathematics class. I decided to take the online Multi-Variable Calculus class through the Stanford EPGY program because I completed Calculus BC last year. I did not want to go a year without challenging math. The class grade does not appear on my transcript, although I reported it as a class i would be taking senior year on the common application. The class is graded pass/fail. So far, I am overwhelmed with self-teaching the material and I am not sure I will be able to successfully complete the course. Would a fail in this class (graded pass/fail) mean a rescission?

Thanks!

No, it would not.

Are you sure? Why do you think this?

If it doesn’t appear on your transcript, how is Yale ever going to learn about it? I don’t think you have any affirmative obligation to report the grade to them. And when will you get the final grade?

Also, if you think you might fail the course, why not just drop it now?

I feel like dropping it would look bad. Wouldn’t Yale take issue to me dropping the course?

Anyone else thing a failure for this online math class could mean rescission?

A)Congrats! I would love to be in your position now.
B) I really doubt it, seeing as it is a college course not on your transcript
C) It’s rescindment, not recisission

All in all, I’d say do your best in the course and don’t worry about it. Could you find a teacher at school willing to help you with the material? Or use one of the numerous Youtube calculus channels? Just a thought.

A) Thanks!
B) Thanks for your reassurance. I will definitely keep working at it i’m just not sure ill be able to pass.
C) Are you sure rescission doesn’t work too? Rescission is the act of rescinding.

Anyone else willing to offer advice/reassurance? Anyone with experience?

Lol. Rescinding as artform. That’s a new one.

haha can you guys reassure me instead of mock me

why dont you just email the admission office …?

what should i ask them?

^^^kidding me?
You can just explain to them what you just told us. Also give them the info that you have been keeping good grades in other classes, and indicated your commitment with Yale. Finally hope/ask if your acceptance will not be rescinded because you took risks to challenge yourself intellectually.

well im not sure if i should contact them. what if they dont find it to be a glaring problem? do i even need to notify them of my grade in the class if it is not a school class (not on my transcript)
I will definitely contact them if they contact me first.

so, if you call Yale, what are you going to say?

Hi, my name is ________________ and I got accepted to Yale EA this year - should I send a failing grade from a college course that I took senior year to Yale if it does not appear on my high school transcript?- or should I just no let Yale know about it and hope that Yale never finds out? - by the way, did I tell you that my name is ______________?

this thread is way too hilarious!!!

@coldsunlight

you’re really not appreciated.

LOL
I thought people who got accepted to Yale was supposed to be smart
c’mon man, you’re brilliant. Don’t stress too much 'bout this.

So i don’t have anything to worry about?

With regular admission decisions coming out in less than a month, I think that if you were to be rescinded, you would have been notified. All I can say is keep your grades up and you shouldn’t have anything to worry about.

…and since the class isn’t on your transcript, I wouldn’t worry about it that much.
