Rescoring SAT

So I read somewhere that instead of asking for an entire test hand-rescore, there's another cheaper option where you can view an online version of your bubble sheet. Is this true?
Also, I want to ask for a test rescore because I feel like I bubbled the right answer for a question I missed, but I'm kind of daunted when Collegeboard says a hand-rescore may lead to your score being lower. I was just curious whether anyone's ever heard of someone's score being lower with a rescore or if that's even possible?
I'm not sure if I'm articulating myself very clearly lol....
Thank you!

There is a cheaper option, but depending on which month/day you took the SAT, the options for what you can see with the cheaper route are limited. For some SAT sittings, you can pay the lower fee and see what questions you had and answers you gave. For other SAT sittings (have no idea why the difference), you only get to see your score sheet. My daughter started with that, and the score sheet revealed that she had supposedly missed 15 questions in a row, right in the middle of the CR section. She was positive she answered everything, did not skip a single answer, and there was no way she got all those wrong. So at that point we went ahead and paid the higher fee for hand scoring – also very afraid of the threat of getting a lower score and no way to challenge it after hand scoring. Turns out there was a mistake in scoring, and her CR score went from 630 to 780. You can imagine how happy we were that she decided to get hand scoring. If you are only concerned about one test question, I doubt that would make much difference in your SAT score to make it worthwhile to order hand scoring. If you are concerned about several questions, then it can be worthwhile.

I took the October SAT so I believe I read that the cheaper version is available? But I can’t seem to find it on Collegeboard, so I’m not sure
Ordinarily I would let it go, but the question I missed was a Level 2 Math, and it was the only one I missed. If I get this one right, my score goes from a 2320 to a 2350 which is a big difference =/

Does anyone have a link for the cheaper version?

@mommyrocks: the reason for the difference is that if the CB sells the QAS, then it’s a released exam and cannot be recycled for later use (internationally).

It looks like you can get the full package with the cheaper “answer verification” since you took the October test:

Part of what that page says is this:
Up to five months after your test date: If you didn’t order Student Answer Service with your registration, there are three ways you can order. You can order online by visiting My SAT and selecting Order Verification within My Scores. You may call Customer Service at 866-756-7346 (US and Canada) and 212-713-7789 (International). You can also order by downloading and submitting the SAT Answer Verification Services Order Form.

Oh no, I already got the QAS, which is why I’m currently wondering whether I should ask for a rescore. I think I’d read somewhere that for the October test, for $24, you could see a scanned online version of your multiple choice, which is what I’d like to see.

Thank you though!
