Research abstract question

I’m submitting a research abstract to Yale with my early action application (deadline Nov. 1, using the online application). I have also submitted this abstract to a cancer research conference, and if it’s accepted, it will be considered published through the conference and I will present it there. I should find out on around October 24 whether the abstract has been accepted or not, but this notification date isn’t definite- could be earlier or later, for all I know.
Should I wait as long as possible so that I will hopefully be able to put down on my app. that it has been accepted, and if so, how long should I wait? (My application is completely done.) Will my abstract seem plausible to them if it's not yet accepted? Or should I just write that I’ve submitted it and send in a note later to update my file if it is accepted? I feel like sending in a note about this, assuming the abstract is accepted, might be considered too unimportant to add to my file, or an annoyance.

Thanks for your help!

I think that many applicants apply to things and put on their applications that they are waiting to hear if they have been accepted or if they have become a winner ect. I do not think that admission officers probably give a lot of credence to this because there is no way for them to tell the value of the applicants work since it has not yet been judged. It is no different from a writer putting down that they have written a novel, and are waiting to see if it will be published. There is no way for admission officers to know if the applicant did in deed finish the novel and if it is worthy of publication.
I would put it down that you are awaiting to hear if you were accepted only if there is some way in your application to show the quality of your work, and/or you show experience in the field of medical research in your application. If you are accepted you could then write a letter indicating that which will become part of your file.
