Just a question: Is anyone submitting a research abstract along with their app and in what format? I did research this summer with a prof but we still haven't got the work published, although I did write a paper and have a scientific poster...can I just submit those? ( I'll most definetely shrink the poster to fit onto a paper if I submit that)

it's not too hard to write an abstract. if you have a paper, as you say you do, an abstract is basically just a summary of that paper. do a little extra research, look at some professional scientific abstracts and write one. colleges will much prefer to have that one little sheet than 20 pages of scientific language that they probably won't want to read.

i AM attaching an abstract.

no, lol, I have an abstract, I wrote it along with my paper, it's just that it's not in any journal or anything...can I still submit it? blurblurblur , how are you submitting yours? Just as a word document or something?

oh haha. sure, still submit it. mine's not in a journal, but i do plan on eventually submitting TO a few journals. i'm mailing it to them (but i'm doing a paper app).

don't send in poster or paper (as nyu admissions officer said... maybe MIT adcoms will understand that stuff, but WE certainly don't)... do send in abstract as it is one of the options for supplementary material.
