A while back I started a thread wondering if having my name in tiny print on a research paper by a professor in my family would make a difference but as fate would have it I already had a research opportunity that I thought would (unhappily) end promptly due to other things going on. Luckily I didn't have to do a lot of what was pressing my time so I had my own chance to research...plants (which I love) long term. After a few months (well several months) I am finally finished with my research on plant signaling. The professor whose lab I work in has told me that my material will soon be publishable have to simply do one get all of my affairs (notes, diagrams etc.) in order. I am wondering if the research will have any substantial or even noticeable impact on my admissions chances to any school (particularly Brown). I've also docked in about 300 or 400 (maybe more) or so hours in the lab so I am wondering if that part will also help me. The names that will be accredited on the published research will be my colleague's name and my name (we are both in high school). Any opinions?
