So I know to get into a BS/MD program you should have some research and shadowing. It is not mandatory but it is better to do it. For the people who shadowed a doctor or found research opportunities, could you tell me how you got it. I mean for shadowing do you just ask a doctor at a hospital? How would you approach them? And for research, what kind of hospitals or institutes should I go to? Also for an internship, how do you go by finding them? I live in New Jersey so if you guys know any opportunities that are there please let me know.

Shadowing: volunteer at hospital first, make connections, then ask.
Research: try to get into a summer program of research at a university near you.

When you mean make connections, do I just talk to doctors that work there and try to like know each other?

yep! That’s basically what I did. I volunteered at a hospital, met another volunteer who knew the docs in a clinic, and then went with her and asked the doc if I could shadow him.

Great. I’ll give it a try.
